Varnish

UV rollercoat (book) varnish

This varnish contains a high level of silicone in its formula to aid the slip of sheets in high speed conversion processes, for example magazine cover binding and so does not lend itself to gluing. Examples are paperback covers, labels and brochures.

UV rollercoat (glueable) varnish

Our UV glueable varnish is a general purpose, high gloss varnish suitable for most applications where further processing such as gluing or foil blocking is required. If you are using the product for the first, we recommend you discuss your gluing requirements with the nearest operating unit or your adhesive supplier.

UV pattern varnish

UV pattern varnish is UV varnish applied in register to selected areas of a printed image to enhance and protect the print or to form part of the graphic design.

UV pattern varnish is ideally suited to longer run work and for more functional applications such as keeping glue flaps and dealer stamp areas free from varnish.

UV spot varnish

Spot varnish is a high gloss UV varnish applied to selected areas of a printed image to enhance product impact or form part of the graphic design.

A raised texture can be achieved using UV Spot Varnish this is known as High Build UV.

Matt UV varnish

Matt rollercoat UV varnish is applied all over the printed sheet, giving a high quality matt finish incorporating print protection with good scuff resistance properties, which can be used to great effect on magazine covers, brochures, greetings cards etc.

The matt surface can be overprinted with UV gloss screen varnish to give excellent contrast between matt and gloss.

Matt rollercoat varnishes not suitable for foil blocking or gluing – if this is a requirement we suggest our Matt screen UV varnish that can be applied leaving the glue flaps free.

As with all UV varnishes - the final appearance will be highly dependant on the substrates smoothness and absorbency.

UV textured varnish

UV textured varnish is a satin effect textured coating applied to selected areas of a printed image to form a tough protective barrier to the underlying print surface that enhances product impact. A rollercoat version is also available for all over appliction.

UV sparkle varnish

Sparkle varnish is a high gloss UV varnish containing metallised polyester flakes that adds "sparkle" when applied to selected areas of a printed image and will provide "shelf appeal" to a wide range of printed products.

Fragrance burst

Fragrance burst inks are designed to add a specific "BURST" of fragrance when applied to selected areas of printed sheets.

The fragrance is released by gently rubbing the fragrance burst area. Most fragrances can be supplied on order.

UV spot tinted varnish

Tinted spot varnish is a high gloss transparent coloured UV varnish applied to selected areas of a printed image to enhance product impact or to form part of the graphic design. Currently five tints are available - blue, red, green, yellow and grey.

Silver latex "scratch off" varnish

Rub removable inks have been specially designed as opaque inks which can be printed over printed tickets or promotional cards and are readily removable using a coin or fingernail to display a pre-printed message underneath.

Rub removable inks are normally printed over offset prints, which must be fully dried. The substrate must also be fully opaque to prevent 'show through' from the reverse.

Absorbent substrates are unsuitable, as the removability of the ink may be impaired.

To aid removability, prints should ideally be sealed with a coat of oil based lottery release varnish. (This must also be allowed time to fully dry prior to applying the rub removable ink.)
