In this section we have attempted to address some of the more common problems found when printing work for subsequent foil blocking, embossing, laminating or varnishing.

Fortunately, many of these problems can be eliminated at the design stage by forethought and correct specification of materials. Occasionally, however, some problems occur in production due to technical issues. Unfortunately these are not so easy to anticipate, control or eliminate.

If there is one lesson that we have learnt from our experiences, it would be that most problems can be avoided by giving a job more time - whether at the planning stage or in allowing print to dry adequately before processing.
