Esquire, the men's magazine, has launched a special-edition October issue. The 194-page magazine has a gold Mirri cover and is printed on a UV Litho press, with white foil lettering for extra contrast. The chise of Mirri metallic board with a premium look was key, as the October issue is promoted as 'The essential manual for a stylish life'. The metallic gold material used reflects this theme and encourages readers to keep the issue for further reference.
The cover was produced featuring advertising from Ralph Lauren and Versace, each taking a full page advertisement benefiting from gold metallic effect.
The cover was printed by Colour Five in Wembley using a B1 UV Litho press, printed with UV inks and varnishes. A selecetive white was printed in line with the 4 colour image, then protected with an in-line high gloss UV varnish. Neil Atkinson, Managing Director of Colour Five commented " We have lots of experiance printing on Mirri, it's a great substrate to add value to a project and we are really pleased with the result we achieved for Esquire magazine. We worked closely with the client, advising on the artwork to get the best effect from the Mirri. The use of a selective white was key to boosting the contrast in the image. The material used was a Mirri Pak gold bespoke making 370gsm/420mic.
