A revolutionary laminate, that stops the spread of M.R.S.A. Get Protected

In a world where 'silent killers' such as M.R.S.A and Staphylococcus are threats for us all, and everything we touch becomes a danger, Celloglas bring to clients a new type of laminate, which protects us all against such superbugs.

Cellomed, exclusive to Celloglas, works continuously to fight against such bacteria.

'Invisible' Germs

The naked eye is only able to detect the presence of microbes once they have multiplied to hundreds of thousands, yet under the right conditions, microbes can double in number every 15 – 20 minutes, and are dangerous well before they can be seen.
Cellomed has been created to fight, and kill these organisms.

Clinically Proven

Cellomed has been independently tested in the laboratory and has been shown to prevent the spread and growth of a diverse range of microbes, including MRSA and E.Coli, (full report available on request)

Offering Protection

Cellomed film laminate offers added protection to any product and has many uses in a diverse range of different industries from pharmaceutical through to folders and textbooks.

Possible uses for the films include lamination for menus, greeting cards and medical records as well as many other items that come into our contact

Cellomed is created from sustainable resources and can be recycled where facilities exist.

Cellomed in Action

British Looseleaf has been one of the first clients to roll out the use of Cellomed. Nick Stevens, from British Loose Leaf said: “With MRSA and other superbugs, being such a hot topic at the moment, we were excited when we heard about Celloglas' new Cellomed film. The fact that there was a product that could be flexible, had anti-bacterial qualities and strong results from the lab test impressed us immensely.

Although there is a long way to go in fighting bugs such as MRSA, Cellomed represents how every little helps, and we expect the product to be very popular with Hospitals and Health Authorities seeing as it is so niche.”

FAQs

What is the film made from?
Cellomed is manufactured from refined wood pulp from SFI managed forests with a special antimicrobial additive incorporated at manufacture, which acts to prevent the spread of bacteria.

How long does it last?
The antimicrobial additive is fully contained within the film and is non-volatile and will continue to work throughout the life of the product.

What tests have been done?
Independent tests have been conducted by Ciba Speciality Chemicals directly comparing Cellomed with standard OPP film – in a Bacterial Growth Inhibition test (Method reference: CG147e).
In brief the results confirm that Cellomed film prevents the growth of both MRSA and E Coli. See results table on the Cellomed flyer.

What do the results mean?
The ZI (Zone of Inhibition) figures are a measurement in millimetres of the area surrounding the test sample – the first figure is the north to south measurement and the second is the east to west measurement. (Both figures are quoted as the ZI measurement is not always circular).

The VR (Vinson Rating) is the measurement for growth under the disc – with 4 being the best result possible confirming no bacterial growth under the laminated disc. (0 figure confirms strong bacterial growth)

How can you tell if a product has been laminated with Cellomed?
It is not possible to tell whether Cellomed has been used without conducting bacterial growth tests or having the film analysed as the film looks the same as other laminates, so we recommend using the Cellomed logo or a tag line, to let people know that what they're touching has been protected by Cellomed.

Also it is possible to tell the difference when the film is in reel form as a very small quantity of blue dye has been added – this dye acts as a tracer, which enables us to clearly identify the film from any others and ensure we laminate the job with the correct film.

Is it active against Clostridium Difficile?
Initial tests indicate that the antimicrobial additive should be active against C Diff – but we are awaiting full test results.

Can you recycle Cellomed?
Cellomed is manufactured from cellulose – and like its sister film CelloGreen can be recycled, where facilities exist, when included as a proportion of general paper waste.

Is it biodegradable?
The inclusion of the antimicrobial additive means that the film cannot be classed as being biodegradable.

What does it look like?
The film is available in both GLOSS or ‘SILK’ finishes and looks the same as CelloGreen film laminates – the appearance is also similar to OPP film laminates.

What is the current availability?
The film is currently being held in stock in our Central Warehouse (LSC) in Sevenoaks in 3 standard reel sizes: 710mm – 630mm and 510mm – these sizes can be used to laminate a range of standard sheet sizes. (SRA1, SRA2, B1, B2 + B3).
